In the late 1890s, it was decided to build an electric railway from Springfield to Dayton, passing through Donnelsville, Medway, and Osborn. This railroad provided a quick transportation for the smaller towns between to go to the bigger cities to do their business.

To power this new railway they built a power house in Medway in 1900. Medway was chosen because of its central location between the cities. Later the power plant was tripled in size and supplied power for the C, L, & S Electric Line as well.

The work on the new car barn was started in February, 1900. The building was made entirely of brick with dimensions of 200 x 60 feet which was to accommodate twenty cars.

By the end of 1899, the track was complete from Springfield to Dayton. And in February, 1900, the traction was open for business. In 1901 they added a spur from Medway to New Carlisle. Business and the population was booming now in Medway. All of the homes were filled and many new houses were being built east of town for this new growth.

The D, S, & U was a luxury of its day but as time went on, their business started yielding to technology. People were now driving their automobiles back and forth to work in the cities. Trucks were carrying the produce to market. By 1930, the powerhouse was in such need of repair, it had to be torn down. Most of the storage tracks and the barn were removed also. The last run over the tracks through Medway was on October 29, 1938.
